About
the Author
Joe Tennis moved to Southwest Virginia in 1990 to
finish a degree in journalism at Radford University. Since then, the
Virginia Beach native has contributed articles and photos on Southwest
Virginia to major daily newspapers, including the Richmond
Times-Dispatch, The Roanoke Times, The Virginian-Pilot, and the
Bristol Herald Courier. He has also written for Blue Ridge Country
magazine.
The author’s articles on music and recreation,
especially in Southwest Virginia, have won awards from the Virginia Press
Association, the Tennessee Press Association, and the Northeast Tennessee
Tourism Association.
